I have a heartwarming story to share today that may unexpectedly inspire you.
This story isn’t about my habits…it’s about my dog’s habits. Teddy may be the expert at habit stacking.
Whenever I prepare for my workout (unrolling my mat, taking out my weights, or pressing play on my workout) Teddy seizes the opportunity. He stops what he’s doing, heads to his collection of chew toys, snatches one, and brings it over next to me. On the rug, he settles in, content as can be, with this chew.
It’s as if he’s created his own habit. By stacking it on (my) existing habit.
This didn’t happen overnight. He’s been a part of the family for almost 2 years now. This is the result of dedication, time, and consistency. Our lovable Teddy Boy observed my workout routine day in and day out until he solidified the link between our habits.
This is a reminder that sustainable and positive changes/habits don’t just happen. There is no magic pill or quick fix.
