a small (but big) mindset shift

I’m so excited to share a unique perspective that has the potential to create a more positive and fulfilling life. It’s all about shifting from saying “I have to” to “I get to” – a small change in words, but a huge impact for our mindset.

How often do we catch ourselves complaining about what’s on our to-do list?

What if I told you that a simple change could turn these our to-do’s into opportunities for gratitude and growth?

When we say, “I have to go to work,” it might create a sense of ‘blehhh’. But, by rephrasing it as “I get to go to work,” suddenly, the situation takes on a different light. It becomes a privilege, reminding us of the job security, the chance to engage with and serve others, and the opportunity to grow professionally.

Another example of this small shift is the household chores. Saying “I have to do the dishes” might feel like a chore (literally lol), but thinking “I get to do the dishes” reframes it as an act of maintaining a clean and comfortable living space for ourselves and our loved ones. It transforms a seemingly monotonous task into an expression of care and love.

Adopting the “get to” attitude is essentially practicing gratitude. It allows us to focus on the positives rather than the negatives.

This simple mindset shift empowers us to break free from self-imposed limitations. When we recognize the blessings in our lives and the opportunities we have, it becomes a bit easier to overcome challenges and embrace personal growth. We can begin to view obstacles as chances to learn and evolve.

I encourage you to experiment with this mindset shift in your daily life. Embrace the “get to” attitude and observe how it transforms your perspective. By practicing gratitude, we can create a more positive and fulfilling life. So, the next time you wake up and wonder, “What do I have to do today?” remember to ask, “What do I get to do today?” and experience the positive difference it makes.
